Brenda Darnley Martin has always enjoyed a strong interest in and appreciation for the communication arts. To Brenda, words – written, spoken and unspoken – are the music of her life, and each day offers the opportunity to create a new “concert.” Brenda received her BA degree from St. Mary’s College and her MBA from the University of Notre Dame. After enduring a few too many harsh Midwestern winters, Brenda and her husband Mike moved to Tampa, Florida in 1989. Since then Brenda has spent her life honing her communication skills:
- writing and editing scripts, newsletters, media releases, song parodies, etc, in addition to her Treasure-Hunt Fish series
- acting in plays and various video projects, voicing radio broadcasts and commercials
- working as an event planner, radio producer, volunteer coordinator and even stand-up comedienne!
Brenda received the inspiration for the character of Freddie, (which really started the whole book series) while working as a member of The Florida Aquarium’s Theatre Staff. Brenda is an avid fan of the Florida lifestyle (fun in the sun), dogs, mysteries, and Harry Potter!
